Shocking increase in Diabetes-Related Amputation

Diabetes connects to two conditions increasing foot amputation risks: peripheral artery disease (PAD) and diabetic neuropathy. PAD narrows leg arteries, raising ulcer and infection chances, plus slowing healing due to poor blood flow. Diabetic neuropathy is nerve damage caused by high blood sugar, affecting feet and legs. Nerve damage can lead to no pain or sensation, allowing unnoticed injuries in foot to worsen. Managing diabetes and these conditions is crucial to prevent foot-related complications.
