Ayurvedic Treatment for Eczema

Ayurveda uses these methods for treating eczema:

  • Shodhana: Mainly focuses on rebalancing the vata, pitta, and kapha doshas, which are considered as the root cause of eczema.

Method: Panchakarma Shodhana, a detoxification treatment that uses five techniques to get rid of toxins (ama) and bring the body back into balance. These techniques might be Nasya (nasal drops), Basti (medicated enemas), Virechana (purgation), Vamana (therapeutic vomiting), and Raktamokshana (bloodletting).

  • Sthanika Abhyanga: Mainly focuses on calming and treating the effected areas by restoring the dosha balance.

Method: Apply therapeutic herbal oils to the eczema-affected areas and massage gently to improve circulation, promoting skin renewal and repair, reducing inflammation and discomfort.

  • Herbal Remedies-

Neem- It is known for balancing the Pitta and Kapha doshas. It helps reducing inflammation, itching, dry skin, erythema, and scarring caused by eczema.

Tulsi- It is used with neem to treat skin infections due to its antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Tulsi is particularly useful for treating eczema on the face.
