What Causes Snoring in Children?
- 1. If the tonsils at the back of the throat are big or swollen due to infection, they can block the airway and cause snoring.
- 2. Overweight children are at a higher risk of snoring due to narrowed airways and increased risk of sleep disorders.
- 3. Cold and allergy outbreaks can block air flow and inflame the tonsils and adenoids leading to difficulty in breathing and increased snoring risk.
- 4. Exposure to secondhand smoke, can affect breathing and increase the risk of snoring in children.
- 5. Snoring in children may be due to a shorter duration of breastfeeding. As breastfeeding helps the upper airway to develop in a way that reduces the likelihood of snoring.
