How it works

Glimepiride stimulates the release of insulin from the pancreas, while metformin reduces the amount of glucose produced by the liver and helps the body use insulin more effectively. Pioglitazone helps the body use insulin more effectively and also reduces glucose production by the liver.

How to take

Adverse drug effect

--Hypoglycemia, gastrointestinal disturbances, taste disturbances, nausea, diarrhoea, allergic skin reactions, photosensitivity, weight gain, upper respiratory tract infection, headache, dizziness, fracture, visual disturbance, anaemia, hepatic dysfunction, jaundice, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, agranulocytosis, haemolytic anaemia, aplastic anaemia, pancytopenia, bone marrow depression, fluid retention, oedema, cardiac failure, macular oedema, bladder cancer, lactic acidosis.
