Does Oxamine cause any effect on pregnancy or the newborn?
Do not take Oxamine during pregnancy unless prescribed by the doctor. If you take this medicine during the last trimester of the pregnancy, the newborn may develop symptoms such as irritability or loud crying, rigidity (stiffness of limbs), irregular body movements, irregular breathing, poor feeding, difficulty in urinating or passing stools.
I feel better now, can I stop taking Oxamine?
No, you should not stop taking Oxamine without discussing it with your doctor even if you feel better. This is because if you stop taking it suddenly, your depression may come back and your symptoms may worsen. Your doctor will decide for how long you need to continue this medicine. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects bother you. If you have completed your course of treatment, your doctor may decrease your dose gradually before taking you off this medicine.
