Introduction to OFM-DS Suspension
OFM-DS Suspension is an antibiotic, having ofloxacin and metronidazole as its active ingredients. Both these medicines damage the DNA of the infection-causing bacteria, thus killing it by stopping its growth. This prevents the infection from spreading without making the bacteria resistant to further treatment.
Give OFM-DS Suspension to your child orally, preferably at a fixed time, either before or after food. In case your child develops a stomach upset, prefer giving it with food. The usually prescribed frequency is twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. If your child vomits within 30 minutes of intake, repeat the same dose but never double up the dose if it is time for the next dose.
Some children may develop minor and temporary side effects after taking this medicine. These include nausea, vomiting, metallic taste, headache, loss of appetite, abdominal cramps, and mild skin rash. These side effects usually go away once your childs body adapts to the medicine. However, in case they persist for long or start bothering your child, you must consult your childs doctor without any delay.

No, taking a higher than the recommended dose of Diof can lead to increased side effects. If you are experiencing increased severity of your symptoms which are not relieved by the recommended doses, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.
What if I dont get better after using Diof?
Inform your doctor if you dont feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.
Can the use of OFM cause nausea and vomiting?
Yes, the use of OFM can cause nausea and vomiting. Taking it with milk, food or with antacids can prevent nausea. Avoid taking fatty or fried foods along with this medicine. In case of vomiting, drink plenty of water or other fluids by taking small frequent sips. Talk to your doctor if vomiting persists and you notice signs of dehydration, like dark colored and strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination. Do not take any other medicine without speaking to a doctor.
