Folitrax 2.5 Tablet

Introduction

Mexate tablet is prescribed for various conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and certain types of cancer, such as leukemia and lymphoma.

Methotrexate belongs to the class of medications known as antimetabolites and antifolate drugs.

It functions as an immunosuppressant and chemotherapy agent.

It is usually taken orally once a week, but the dosage and frequency may vary depending on the condition being treated.

Regularly attend follow-up appointments for monitoring of blood counts, liver function, and potential side effects.

Patients prescribed it should adhere to their healthcare provider's recommendations regarding dosage and duration of treatment.

It is crucial to report any persistent symptoms or adverse effects promptly.

How it works

Methotrexate interferes with the production of DNA in rapidly growing cells, slowing their growth. It also reduces immune system activity, which helps in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis by lowering inflammation.

How to take

Take Methotrexate tablets exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a week. Swallow whole with water, preferably after food. Do not crush or chew the tablet. Follow your doctor’s schedule to avoid serious side effects.
