What is the half life of torsemide?
With IV administration, the onset of action is within 10 mins with a peak in one hour. The duration of action of the drug is around 6 to 8 hours, irrespective of the route of administration. The drug is primarily metabolized by the liver (80%) and excreted in the urine. Half-life elimination is approximately 3.5 hours.

Does Toresa 5 Tablet increase creatinine?
Yes, Toresa 5 Tablet may cause a mild increase in creatinine values depending on the dose you are taking. These increased creatinine levels may increase slightly more when this medicine is used for long term. However, with discontinuation of the treatment, these levels return to their base value.

Does Toresa 5 Tablet raise blood sugar?
Yes, Toresa 5 Tablet may raise blood sugar levels causing hyperglycemia. Hence, it is important to keep a track of your blood glucose levels during treatment with Toresa 5 Tablet.

What are the side effects of Toresa 5 Tablet?
The common side effects of Toresa 5 Tablet include headache, dizziness, dehydration, constipation, decreased blood pressure and stomach upset. Some of the serious side effects of Toresa 5 Tablet include dehydration and electrolyte imbalance, rapid or excessive weight loss, vomiting blood, chest pain, difficulty breathing or swallowing, blisters or peeling skin, hives, rash, and itching. How long does it take for Toresa 5 Tablet to show its effects?
Toresa 5 Tablet starts acting within an hour of taking it orally and its effect lasts for about 6-8 hours when given orally.

Does Toresa 5 Tablet cause loss of potassium?
Toresa 5 Tablet may not cause direct potassium loss. But, in some cases, its use may cause excess loss of water which may lead to dehydration. This, as a result, may cause loss of potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium.
