The Kamrab Injection is administered via injection by a healthcare professional and should always be used together with a rabies vaccine Postexposure prophylaxis entails receiving one dose of immunoglobulin and completing a full course of rabies vaccination There are two types of Rabies Immunoglobulin available human hRIG and equine eRIG Both have similar clinical effectiveness in eliminating the virus at the site of the wound It is crucial to administer both the rabies immunoglobulin and the first dose of the rabies vaccine as soon as possible after exposure Both the active vaccine and passive immunization with immunoglobulin work to prevent the rabies virus from entering the central nervous system However once the virus has crossed into the central nervous system they become ineffective The Kamrab Injection is given only once in a persons lifetime and should not be administered 7 days after the initial rabies vaccine dose Common side effects of the Kamrab Injection include pain anaphylactic reactions angioedema swelling of deeper layers of skin stiffness soreness and tenderness at the injection site These side effects are usually temporary and can sometimes be relieved by sitting or lying down If any of these side effects persist or cause concern it is important to consult a doctor Before receiving the injection it is important to inform the doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to immunoglobulin Some medications may interact with the human rabies immunoglobulin so it is important to discuss any other medications you are taking with your doctor If you are pregnant or breastfeeding it is recommended to consult with your doctor before receiving the Kamrab Injection

Is Kamrab painful?

Whether Kamrab is painful or not depends on your pain tolerance. During your initial treatment, a healthcare professional will put Kamrab in the area where you were bitten. This can be painful. Therefore, a relatively greater amount of Kamrab may be required to be placed in and around the wound site to ease out your pain and treat infection.
