Cezotum Injection belongs to the class of medications that combines Cefoperazone, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, with Sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor. It is used to treat various bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and intraabdominal infections. It is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

 

Cefoperazone inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Sulbactam protects Cefoperazone from being degraded by certain bacteria-produced enzymes. This dual action ensures a more robust and sustained antibacterial effect.
