What is Cefolac-AZ used for?
Cefolac-AZ is a fixed-dose combination of two antibiotics and is used to treat patients with bacterial infections. Cefixime is used to treat infections of the ear, lung, throat and urinary tract. Azithromycin is useful in the treatment of ear infections, strep throat, pneumonia, travelers diarrhea (loose stools and stomach cramps while traveling). Together they can be used to treat infections of the upper respiratory tract (typhoid and pneumonia), urinary tract and sexually transmitted diseases.
Can the use of Cefolac-AZ cause diarrhea?
Yes, the use of Cefolac-AZ can cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic which kills the harmful bacteria. However, it also affects the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. If you are experiencing severe diarrhea, talk to your doctor about it.
Can I stop taking Cefolac-AZ when I feel better?
No, do not stop taking Cefolac-AZ and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.
